Samsung launches three budget Android smartphones in India


Samsung has officially introduced three new Android smartphones in the Indian market today. Part of the company’s Galaxy line-up, the new Samsung Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT phones are priced below INR 10,000 and will go on sale in the coming days. Two of these smartphones Galaxy Ace NXT and Star 2 Advance (as Star 2 Plus) were earlier spotted on the company’s official e-store.

“Samsung is committed to offer the best in technology and innovative products at an affordable price to the consumers. We believe in cutting across language and data cost barriers to ensure every consumer has access to the world of smartphones. Especially created for the Indian market Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT have been launched to provide a larger set of consumers with the experience of superior mobile technologies and richer internet experience at an affordable price,” said Asim Warsi, Vice President, Marketing, Mobile & IT at Samsung India.
According to Samsung, the new smartphones run on Android 4.4 KitKat and come with Touchwiz user-interface. Other features of the phones include the support for 12 Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Guajarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, and Assamese. The consumers will be able to get applications in the Indian languages from Samsung Galaxy Apps as well as Google Play.

Pricing and key specifications

Samsung Galaxy Star 2: 3.5-inch display, 2MP camera, 1GHz processor, 1300 mAh battery, dual-SIM, 2G support, Wi-Fi access and free access to premium games from Gameloft. It has been priced at INR 5,100.
Samsung Galaxy Star Advance: 4.3-inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1800 mAh battery, 512MB of RAM, dual-SIM and 3MP camera with flash. It has got a price-tag of INR 7,400.
Samsung Galaxy Ace NXT: 4-inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1500 mAh battery, dual-SIM, 3MP camera with flash and 3G support. The Ace NXT has also got a price-tag of INR 7,400.
Data offer: Samsung has stated that it has partnered with Vodafone to provide the buyers of the new smartphones 200MB of free data for six months.
