A fortnight after KDDI unveiled the new J Butterfly smartphone in Japan, HTC has decided to announce the Butterfly 2, the variant of the J Butterfly for South Asia. According to HTC, Butterfly 2 will be released on Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan, CSL in Hong Kong, and a number of other telecom operators throughout South Asia including India.

HTC Butterfly 2 is the same smartphone as J Butterfly with practically no difference between the two devices apart from the Japan-specific features. It is powered by 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and sports a 5-inch full HD display. The smartphone also features 2GB of RAM, 16/ 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and Android 4.4 with Sense UI. In addition, HTC has included a 13MP rear camera with depth sensor, 5MP front shooter and 2700 mAh battery.
The phone is also water and dust resistant and packs dual frontal stereo speakers, NFC, 4G LTE and the usual set of connectivity options.
Availability:
HTC Butterfly 2 goes on sale in Taiwan beginning September 2 and will be available in Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand soon after.
